Typically, people who play video games are very intelligent and enjoy being challenged. They are enticed into obtaining quick highs in a video game rather than dealing with their life issues – whether it’s having difficulties in school, a job they hate, relationship problems or financial hardship they may be experiencing. A 2011 study by Zanetta-Dauriet and colleagues showed that five distinct motivations to play video games include achievement, socializing, immersion, relaxing, and escaping.[1]
